Current fundraising initiatives include our internship program, “的 Light of Day,” which has connected students with literary organizations such as Pen Parentis, Copper Canyon Press, NPR, 和 Book TV, as well as with professional authors for whom they 担任研究助理.
Another opportunity for giving is our reading series, which the 华盛顿邮报》 has called “the Carnegie Hall of readings.” What makes us special is that our authors meet with students to discuss their writing. Imagine having met with Toni Morrison or recent Pulitzer Prize winner Jericho Brown about your writing!
We also publish a national literary journal, 樱桃树, which features outst和ing literary work by established 和 emerging authors, 和 which provides student learning opportunities in editing, marketing, design, 和 publishing.
And each year we run the 樱桃树 Young Writers’ Conference, which showcases Washington College’s vibrant literary community for high-school age writers. 如果你愿意的话 sponsor a scholarship or fund books for our young writers, email Conference%20Director%20Roy%20Kesey or make a donation 和 specify it for the "樱桃树 Young Writers' Conference."
